The Generation of the Righteous
“There were they in great fear: for God is in the generation of the righteous.” (Psalms 14:5). Every person on Earth has a light that they could shine. We could imagine that we’ve all got this little lightbulb installed. The problem is that lightbulbs need power to shine. So many of God’s children’s lightbulbs are dim because they are not connected up to the power. But God is in the generation of the righteous. He can generate righteousness that will power our lights. It can be hard to do the right thing. There are distractions, fears, peer pressure, social status. Many of us are dealing with serious health problems or financial troubles or a thousand other things that make it hard for us to find the time or the energy to include God in our lives. But Satan wants to keep us in the dark and that’s why he tries so hard to convince us that we don’t have the energy to be righteous. But energy and power and the capacity to deal with all of our problems effectively comes from being connected to God. We can draw power and energy from Him so long as we continue in righteousness. And as long as we are connected to the Celestial Grid of righteousness, we will naturally let our light shine because God is the one that is generating the righteousness. We just have to do our part and stay connected to Him and He will take care of the rest. A lightbulb without power can give no light. But a powerplant without lightbulbs connected to it also does not generate any light. God needs us to let our light shine because he can’t do it for us. I mean, God could walk among us and let His light shine, but His light is so powerful that it would burn us all to a crisp. This way is better. He generates the righteousness, and we stay connected to Him so that we can let our light shine.
