Lead Us
“And lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from evil: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen.” Our Heavenly Father would never lead us into temptation. He would just as soon allow Himself to succumb to temptation as He would deliberately lead us into temptation. That means, if we want to avoid temptation, then all we have to do is ask our Heavenly Father to lead us. We can be sure that wherever God leads us, it will ultimately be for our good. But it is very important that God leads us, rather than compel or coerce us. He knows the path that will lead to happiness, but He will never drag us along it. That is why it's so important that in our prayers we ask God to lead us. It has to be our choice. We've got to want to follow God. If following our Heavenly Father's lead is not the thing we want more than anything else in this world, then we will eventually get distracted and diverted from the path by whatever it is that we want more. When we are making our way through all of our various temptations and the mists of darkness, it is so very easy to lose sight of the things that matter most. But God neither requires nor desires for us to figure this all out on our own. He is waiting for us to ask Him to lead us and as soon as we do He is ready to lead and guide us down the correct path. I know that if we always follow God we will never be led into temptation.
