Charity Never Faileth
“Charity never faileth: but whether there be prophecies, they shall fail; whether there be tongues, they shall cease; whether there be knowledge, it shall vanish away.” (1 Corinthians 13:8). This life is one big test where we can prove to ourselves and to our Heavenly Father that we will do all things that He will command us to do. Luckily for us, the test is open book. We have access to holy scriptures and the words of living prophets that can help us to succeed on our test. Heck, we can even ask the test giver for help and He will whisper to us in a still small voice. But there is actually one answer that we can use for pretty much every question on the test and if we just use that one answer then we’re practically guaranteed to pass with flying colors. It's charity. Charity never faileth. We can use charity on any part of the test and we will not be wrong. If we are struggling to give up certain sins, but we pray for the Lord to fill us with His love, then we will find the strength and resolve to forsake our sins. After all, if we love Christ, then we will keep His commandments. If we have exhausted and worn out all of our strength, charity can pick us up and carry us until we have finished our work. If we can't forgive someone because they have truly ruined our lives in a cruel and evil and malicious way, charity can cast out all of the evil and bitterness and hatred in our souls until there is only the pure love of Christ left. No one ever said that this test that we all must take will not be hard, but it's also not complicated. There is just one answer for every single question - charity. If we have charity, we will not fail. I pray that we may all be filled with charity so that we can pass every new part of the test that comes our way every single day.
