Privacy Policy

The short version

Christian Daily Thoughts has no user accounts, no cookies, no analytics, and no advertising. We do not track you, build a profile of you, or sell or share your information with anyone. The only thing we ever store on our servers is a notification subscription — and only if you explicitly turn notifications on.

Stored on your device only

Your reading preferences stay in your own browser's local storage. They are never sent to us and we cannot read them:

• cdt-reader-prefs — theme, font size, typeface, line spacing, and audio playback settings (shuffle, repeat, stop mode, sleep timer).
• cdt-push-visits — a count of how many times you have visited, used only to decide when to offer the notification prompt.
• cdt-push-dismissed — a flag remembering that you dismissed that prompt, so we stop asking.

Clearing your browser's site data for this site removes all of it.

Stored on our servers (only if you enable notifications)

If you turn on daily notifications, your browser generates a subscription and we store it so we can send you that day's reflection. It contains:

• A push endpoint URL issued by your browser vendor, plus two encryption keys your browser generates. These let us deliver a notification to your device without knowing who or where you are.
• A short device hint (for example “iOS” or “Android”) so we can diagnose delivery problems.
• A hashed version of your browser's user-agent string. It is stored as a one-way hash — we keep it to tell subscriptions apart, and it cannot be reversed back into the original.
• Timestamps for when you subscribed, when we last sent you a notification, and how many deliveries have failed.

This subscription is not linked to a name, an email address, or an account, because there are none. We cannot use it to identify you.

What we never collect

No names, no email addresses, no passwords, no payment details, no location data, no contacts, no cookies, no advertising or analytics trackers, and no third-party tracking scripts of any kind. The app is free and there is nothing to sign up for.

Who else is involved

Running the app requires a few infrastructure providers. None of them receive personal information from us, because we do not hold any:

• Amazon Web Services — hosts the database, the audio and image files, and the API. Standard server logs, including IP addresses, are generated as part of serving any website.
• Vercel — serves the website itself, and likewise generates standard request logs.
• Your browser's push service (Google, Apple, or Mozilla, depending on your device) — notifications can only reach you by passing through the service your own browser chose. This is how web notifications work on every site.

Removing your data

Turn notifications off in Settingsand the subscription is deactivated. To remove everything held locally, clear this site's data in your browser. If you would rather we deleted a subscription for you, email us and we will — though because subscriptions are anonymous, you may need to send it from the device in question.

Children

Christian Daily Thoughts is written for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children — and in practice we collect no personal information from anyone.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top of this page changes with it. Any change that meaningfully affects what we store will be announced in the app.
